My favourite area to stay in Shanghai is French Concession, it’s a much quieter area than Pudong that is dominated by skyscrapers. The reason I like to stay here is that the skyscrapers and modern Shanghai is something that you without a doubt will see enough of during your stay anyway. Since French Concession is a more residential area you might not see much of it if you don’t choose to stay here, it’s also nice to see the contrasts of Shanghai.
This hotel used to be the Ruijin Guest House and this is where government officials and visiting heads of state used to stay. There is a seven hectare garden with ponds and fountains on the property and golf cars take you between the buildnings.
I like the InterContinental hotels, you can always count on a high level of service and I can really recommend the InterContinental in French Concession!
